In honor of Earth Day, the Outdoor Activities and Campus Improvement Committee coordinated several hands-on projects around the school. With support from MAP, student volunteers visited classrooms to read Earth Day-themed books focused on conservation, environmental awareness, and renewable energy, sparking thoughtful conversations with younger students.
As part of our ongoing campus efforts, we’ve also begun carefully removing invasive bamboo from the nature trails. The harvested bamboo will be repurposed for fort-building and other creative outdoor play opportunities.
A highlight of the week was a collaborative mosaic mural made from painted river rocks in shades of blue and green. Upper Elementary students delivered the rocks to classrooms, where students decorated them to represent our planet. There are still a few final touches scheduled for this mural, but it is now on display along the sidewalk near the playground. While we plan to eventually grout the rocks in place, we appreciate your help in preserving the mural by encouraging children to admire it without touching or moving the pieces.
We’re excited to share that more outdoor art projects are already in the works for this summer and next school year, continuing our efforts to bring creativity and community spirit to our shared spaces.
