All new families are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of $100.00 upon enrollment.

Please note that the total amounts reflected in the above table represent payment for all regular tuition, snack fees (for Infant, Toddler, and Children’s House programs), enhancement classes, and supply fees during the traditional school year (180 school days). The fees do not cover our summer school or field trips.

Frequently Asked Questions about Tuition Fees

What is included in the Tuition Fees?

Your fees include the following:

  • Program fee
  • All specialty classes including Spanish, Sign Language, Music, Physical Education, and Chess (depending on the program)
  • Snacks during the day
  • Supplies and materials (not including changes of clothing)
  • Parent-Teacher consultations
  • Montessori Parent Education
Is there an acceptance fee?

The New School does not charge an acceptance fee. This is for several reasons. First, we value a parent’s commitment to the school as a participatory member of the school community, hence we request a commitment of volunteer hours in lieu of an acceptance fee. Second, by not charging an acceptance fee, we lower the barrier to entry into the school, enabling a more representative school population while at the same time maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence. Third, we have a strong Parent Teacher Organization that assists the school with fundraisers and capital campaigns to help enrich our programs and promote our growth and expansion.

What is the Volunteer Requirement?

The volunteer requirement is a commitment you make to support the school and your child's classroom. You can fulfill this requirement by assisting with school activities on site or by working from home. For a list of current volunteer needs, please visit our Volunteer Opportunities page. The number of volunteer hours is dependent on how many children you have enrolled in the school. If you are unable to fulfill this obligation, a $10.00 charge for each hour of incomplete volunteer time will be added to your last tuition statement.

  • For one child enrolled in the school, a total of 10 hours of volunteer time will be required.
  • For two children enrolled in the school, a total of 15 hours of volunteer time will be required.
  • For three children enrolled in the school, a total of 20 hours of volunteer time will be required.
Does the school offer payment plans?

Yes. For families enrolling at the beginning of the year, you may choose either a ten or twelve month payment plan. Payments for a ten month plan begin in July and end in April. For a twelve month plan, payments begin in May and end in April. If you begin during the course of the school year, arrangements will be made based on your date of entry. In certain circumstances, we may also be able to accommodate an alternate payment plan to assist families in need.

Does the school offer tuition assistance?

Yes. The New School offers tuition assistance to families in need. We strive to provide the opportunity for enrollment in our school to as many families as possible. We utilize a company called FAST to provide us with scholarship recommendations based on the financial needs of the families applying. Please visit our Tuition Assistance page for more information.

Is there a sibling discount?

Our sibling discount has increased this year. Families with two children will receive a $100 discount off the annual tuition for each of their children, and families with three children will receive a $200 discount off the annual tuition for each of their children.

Does the school accept credit cards?

Currently, we do not accept credit card payments. However, we do offer a way to pay online via PayPal. However, there is an additional finance charge of 2.9% to use this option. Please check with the school before paying online if you have any questions about the additional charge.

Can I enroll after the start of the school year?

The New School accepts applications throughout the year based on availability. If you are admitted during the year, we will prorate the tuition fees based on your start date.
