Infant and Toddler Ones Faculty

Michelle Little

AMS Certified Teacher

Michelle is in her seventh year as a toddler teacher at The New School. She was born in Salisbury, North Carolina and earned her B.A. in History from UNC Chapel Hill.

Michelle earned her AMS Infant and Toddler Credential from CMTE North Carolina in 2007. She also holds an Early Childhood Associates Certificate from Wake Technical Community College. She has worked with children of various ages for over 14 years, 12 of which have been primarily with infants and toddlers. Before coming to The New School, Michelle worked as an infant teacher at RTI International’s on-site child-care facility in RTP.

Michelle’s daughter, Georgia, has attended The New School since she was 6 weeks old and is now a student in our lower elementary program.

Michelle enjoys baking, Zumba, and is a history buff.

Sue Banzaca

Sue was born in New Jersey and moved to Tennessee in 1998. Her prior work experience was primarily as an office manager with large businesses and hospitals. Sue and her family relocated to North Carolina in 2002 when she became a full time mom. During this time, Sue began watching several neighbors’ children ranging in ages from 3 months to 9 years on a daily basis. Based on this experience and her love for caring for children, Sue decided to seek a job in childcare. In 2008 she joined The New School Montessori Center’s Infant and Toddler teaching team and has been a valuable part of its growth and success.

Sue is pursuing her Montessori certification on the Infant and Toddler level and is also certified in Playground Safety and CPR & First Aid. Sue is also very well versed on various health and safety-related issues pertaining to infants and toddlers.

Beulah Wiggins

Beulah has been caring for children for 30 years and has worked in schools as a teacher for seven years. She attended Apex High School and is very involved in community activities and her church in particular.

Beulah joined the New School in 2010 and has been one of the few who has worked with all ages from infants to upper elementary. Beulah has a special gift with the infants and toddlers, who respond to her gentle and caring ways. She currently now works exclusively with this age group during the regular school day, but still offers after-school support to other age groups as needed.

Beulah loves to talk about her family, including seven great grandchildren, and she enjoys cooking and taking care of the elderly.

Lori Deach

Lori and her family moved to North Carolina from Long Island, New York. She earned an Associates degree in Liberal Arts & Science from Suffolk College, New York, in 1998. Lori then earned her AMI (American Montessori Internationale) Infant and Toddler certification in Denver, Colorado, in 2003.

Lori has been working with toddlers for over 16 years, eleven of those years in a Montessori classroom. Before coming to The New School in 2009, Lori also worked at another local Montessori school for four years.

Lori and her husband have a daughter who also attends The New School. Lori’s hobbies include horseback riding, dirtbikes, and traveling.

Khaoula Hourani

Classroom Assistant

Born in Algeria, Khaoula has worked with children for more than two years. She has credentials in Early Childhood Education and is currently studying at Wake Tech for additional certification.

She is fluent in Arabic, French and English. Khaoula’s son attends the New School, and her pastimes include cooking, running, and interior decorating.
